Welcome to Lauren's portfolio

An aspiring journalist and honors student, I am on track to graduate a year early from Kent State in the spring of 2026. Studying journalism and creative writing has helped me develop a strong and clear writing voice. As a student and freelance reporter, I have covered everything from controversies on campus to reactions to public policy decisions. Within and outside of student media, I have held reporting, producing, editing and on-air positions.

My work has been published in Kent State's student media outlets, Ohio News Connection, Garden Center Magazine and its affiliates, The Portager, The Summiteer and Kent State's Equal Access Newsletter. You can read it all in the "Published Reporting" section of this website.

I believe in lending a listening ear to people whose stories would not be heard otherwise. I enjoy writing human interest, personality and feature stories as well as stories about activism, public policy and human rights. I aim to bring awareness to the most important people in our communities, whatever the format may be, through enthusiasm, creativity and empathy.
